A useful roadside kit fits your motorcycle and the tasks you know how to perform. Start with your owner’s manual and your existing tool kit.
The essentials
- Bike-appropriate tools for accessible fasteners and adjustments.
- A small flashlight, gloves and a compact first-aid kit.
- A charged phone, charging cable and power source.
- A tire-pressure gauge and suitable portable inflator.
- Your roadside-assistance details and emergency contacts available offline.
Match tire equipment to the tire
Confirm whether your tires use tubes before choosing repair equipment. A tubeless plug kit does not repair an inner tube. Follow the tire and repair-equipment manufacturers’ instructions, including any limits on temporary repairs. Arrange recovery when the damage is outside those limits or you cannot make a safe repair.
Check a tool kit before buying
Compare its contents against the fasteners you would actually need to reach. A kit advertised as universal may still omit a size your bike requires. Pack it securely away from heat and moving parts.
Make it usable
Check inflator power compatibility and practice simple tasks at home using the manufacturer’s instructions. Refresh batteries and supplies before longer rides.
