Choose luggage around the ride, the mounting points and the bike’s load limits.
Match the bag to your trip
- Commute: A compact tail bag or tank bag can keep small essentials accessible. Confirm mounting clearance and whether you need to carry the bag indoors.
- Day ride: A secured dry bag can hold extra layers and supplies. Check how it attaches to your seat or rack.
- Longer trip: Saddlebags or side cases provide more capacity, but may need model-specific supports, racks or adapters.
Fit comes before capacity
Verify the exact bike application for racks and mounting hardware. Keep bags and loose straps clear of exhaust heat, wheels, chain or belt, suspension and lights. Check passenger space and access to the fuel cap.
Read both load limits
The luggage limit and the rack limit can differ. Follow the lowest applicable limit, along with your motorcycle’s total allowable load. Volume in liters describes space; it does not state how much weight you can safely carry.
Pack and check
Keep the load balanced and secured according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Check fasteners and straps before each ride. For rain protection, verify whether the bag itself is waterproof or requires a liner or rain cover.
